If you are selling your home, the home inspection part of the process can be intimidating. You are so close to closing on your house, and this is the final step before you finalize the sale with the future owners. If any major issues come up during this inspection, it can affect the price you sell the home for.
As a professional home inspector, Andrew Cunningham-Moorat is an expert in examining key areas of residential homes and other non-commercial buildings. Today he shares his tips for preparing your house for an inspection.
- Remove anything that could block access for the home inspector. When selling your home, you’re probably already in the process of clearing your house out, so ensure that the inspector can get to all the areas they need to check – this includes the inside and outside of your home.
- Fix up all those little things around the house that you’ve been ignoring until now. Replace any burnt-out lightbulbs, fix the running toilet, unclog the drains, or anything else that is relatively easy to fix.
- Make sure that all of the utilities are turned on for inspection day, such as water, electricity, and gas.
